In appreciation of her uncommon commitment to the emancipation of the less privileged in Israel, foremost Nigerian philanthropist, Rev. Mother Esther Abimbola Ajayi was, on Monday evening, honoured in that country.
The woman of God was honoured with the award of Distinguished Culture of Peace Award by the International Project of Culture of Peace in association with the Religions of Peace Organisation both in Israel.
The award was presented to her at the prestigious Jerusalem Gate Hotel, in the heart of Jerusalem, by a former minister of Israel, Prof. Simmon Shitreet. Prof. Shitreet is also the President of the International Project of Culture of Peace.
According to Prof. Shitreet, Rev. Mother Esther Ajayi becomes the third recipient of the award and the only living recipient of the award. The past two recipients of the award were the late president of Israel, Shimon Perez and a late President of Indonesia, Abdurrahaman Wahid.
Speaking during the presentation, Prof. Shitreet said that Rev. Mother Ajayi has, in the last couple of years displayed uncommon benevolence to many Israeli citizens especially the less priviledged. He also said that her commitment to help African Christians to achieve their life-time dream of visiting Israel for pilgrimage has not gone unnoticed.
His words, “We
are always glad to receive Mama Ajayi and her people anytime they visited
Israel. When we see you people and Mother Ajayi come to Israel, we feel that we
the Christians in this country are not minority but part of the majority.”
She encouraged the woman of God not to relent on her efforts to bringing smiles to peoples’ faces.
In her comment after the award presentation, Rev. Mother Ajayi thanked the bodies for the honoured done to her. She assured that she would always partner with bodies that take the welfare of the less privileged their priority.
