Significance of Letter G in the Holy Bible

Pastor Omololu Olubode, in this article, x-rays the significance of the seventh English Alphabet as it was used in the Holy book and also romanticises with the Alphabet.
Letter G is the seventh letter of the English Alphabet and this Great letter is what the first book of the Holy Bible, Genesis, started its first verse with: “In the Beginning, God created Heaven and Earth” Gen 1 vs 1. Thus, Genesis opened the big Gate that Gave an insight to God’s awesome creativity, performed in seven days. Yes, in seven days, God created light, the sky, the sun, the moon, a Great expanse of land, seas, stars, fishes, birds, animal and man, before resting on the seventh day! Gen 1 vs 1-29. One may wonder about the significance of letter ‘G’ being the seventh letter of the English Alphabet and God’s Creation of the earth within seven days! There’s no other explanation other than the fact that Seven is a perfect number and our God is a perfect God. God constantly and repeatedly spoke to and through His people from the book of Genesis to Revelation to manifest His love and an unquantifiable open relationship with the entire Global humanity. Life in the Spirit Bible says, “God is revealed in the Bible as an Infinite, Eternal Self-Existing Being, who is the First Cause of all that is. He is above, Independent of, and prior to God, all that had been Created in Heaven and Earth.” This revealed Revelation, is susceptibly stated by Apostle Paul in his letter to the Colossians about who Jesus Christ is: “Who is the Image of the Invisible God, the First Born of Every creature, for by Him, were all things Created that are in Heaven and on Earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones or dominions, or principalities, or powers: for Him and all were created by Him, and He is before all things, and by Him, all things consist.” Col. 1 vs 15-17. A Glance through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation Grants us an insight into how God used a Great number of Gallant Men, several mountains and insignificant villages and towns to manifest His Goals of ensuring that, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the Law of the Lord; and in His Law does He meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in the season; and his leaf also shall not whither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Ps 1 vs 1-3. Gideon the fifth Judge of Israel was commissioned by God to save Israelites from the oppression of Midianites and Amalekites. He triumphed with 300 men who blew their trumpets at different times, with thunderous shouts of “The sword of the Lord and Gideon”, which made their oppressors, “…set every man’s sword against his fellow, and the oppressors fled to Bethshitah in Zererath and to the border of Abel-meholah into Tabath. Judges 7 vs 22. Giants oppressed Israelites several times. However, God promised the Israelites His Grace to enable them overcome these so-called Giants. The Greatest of the Giants was 9 feet tall Goliath, who met his waterloo from just a single shot from David’s sling into Goliath’s forehead which killed him immediately. 1st Sam. 17 vs 48-49. Some towns played significant roles in biblical times. Gilgal and Gibeon served as home and temporary seat of Government during the exploits of Israelites in Cannan, under the leadership of Joshua and it was at Gilgal that Saul, Israel’s first king was crowned as king: 2nd Sam, 11 vs 15. The decision of the people of Gibeon to make peace with Israel, that has emerged as a powerful nation then, ignited a cold war between the Gibeonites and Adoni-zedek, the king of Jerusalem, who, in anger, sought and got the support of the kings of these four nations- Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon, to teach the Gibeonites some lessons for daring to seek refuge under Joshua and Israel. The Gibeonites sent a “Save Our Soul” message to Joshua and Joshua’s inspired response from God was swift. He devised a war Game plan that Galvanised Israel’s men of valour to descend on the troops of the five conspirators and the result was a Great slaughter at Gibeon, which destabilised the enemy troops who, while trying to run for cover, met their doom from the Great stones cast by God from Heaven which consumed them. Their woes were more compounded when God ordered the sun to stand still upon Gibeon, while the moon was confined to the valley of Ajallon till the Gibeonites were avenged. Joshua 10 vs 5-14. Gibeon was the place where Solomon 1,000 burnt offerings to the Lord, which really pleased God beyond His expectation to the extent that God appeared to him in a dream and gave him a blank cheque to request for whatever he wanted. Solomon’s only request was for God to grant him the wisdom and knowledge to Govern the big nation of Israel. God not only obliged, He also showered him with tremendous wealth and unquestionable honour. 1st Kings 3 vs 1-14. Gabriel was one of the beloved angels of the Lord, who appeared to Daniel when he interpreted the Great vision that Daniel had: Dan 8 vs 15. This angel it was, that foretold the birth of John the Baptist to Zachariah, who was “well stricken in years” and whose wife was supposedly barren. Luke 1 vs 13-17. It was also through angel Gabriel that the Gracious miraculous pregnancy of Jesus Christ was announced to Mary, a betrothed virgin to Joseph. Mary was the only damsel who became pregnant without knowing a man and the only woman whose son died after being nailed to the cross at Calvary and rose up again after the third day! This precious son was a personal gift of the Almighty God, who left His place of Glory in Heaven to preach the Good News of the Gospel to the Jews, the Gentiles and every citizen of the world. Within three years, our Lord Jesus Christ, who was the first innocent Statesman with Special Grace to make a provision of the Gift of the Greatest Number of Goods, emotionally, spiritually and abundant survival wherewithal, for the Greatest number of people who crossed His Path and believed Him. This Great Statesmanship of Jesus Christ, challenged the Pharisees, the Sadducees who remained divided and confused over the identity of Jesus Christ, and those who fed fat from other people’s sweat. Their Greed metamorphosed into serious Groans and Grudges. This eventually Grew into a Greater Grief and anger that Graduated into a Graven conspiracy. The high level conspiracy Given teeth by Pharisees and Sadducees, who just before the conspiracy were strange bedfellows, Galvanised enough evidence with disgruntled Priests, from the lowest to the highest, and an organised mob, to ensure the conviction of our Lord Jesus Christ in a kangaroo court, where he was pronounced Guilty! His punishment? Crucifixion on the cross at Golgotha. What they could not crucify was the Good News. This was the Great Commission to His Disciples: “All Power is given unto Me, in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore and teach All Nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Matt. 28 vs 18-20. The Good News Gospel was spread to manifest the Glory of God in the lives of those who had the Grace to accept Jesus and those are still accepting Him as their Lord and Saviour. This Great Accomplishment of spreading the Good News, from when our Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven until today has led to a continual increased spread of Christianity on planet again and again. So, why not take that vital decision, now, to follow Jesus Christ, who Gallantly fought to Gain a space for you and me, in His Father’s Kingdom. Don’t Gamble your future, close that Gap. Give your life to Christ without any Gainsaying, Gallivanting and Grimace, but walk with Him, Gaily and with Gaiety and total confidence to avoid Gnashing of teeth and the Gavel of Justice.
