How Lagos Youth Fellowship marked 21st anniversary in style

Around this time in 2019, members of the Youth Fellowship Cherubim & Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter as well as their well-wishers, celebrated the 20th Convention/ Anniversary of the establishment of the body at the Seraphim land along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Maba in Ogun State, with pomp. It was, of course, a colourful celebration put together by the body and deservedly so.
Understandably, the Bro. Muyiwa Odedina-led group had promised everyone that attended that event similar experience in 2020. To match their words the action, the executive had constituted the 21st Anniversary committee with same mandate to organise a mouth-watering event for this year.
Of course, the aspiration and plans of the body for a grandiose celebration was curtailed, no thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Determined to always give their best to Seraph youths in Lagos State, the body, apparently sensing that the pandemic and its attendant restrictions could negatively affect their plans, soon swung into Plan ‘B’ to execute their plans, and so opted to have a low-key 21st anniversary which was commuted to an all-night programme and rather than stage the event at their usual Seraphim Land at Maba, the youths, instead hosted the event at the headquarters of the Praying Band C&S Church at N0 1 Akitan Street, in Mushin.
So, all roads led to the church on Friday, November 6, 2020, where the youths gathered to mark the anniversary.
The programme started at exactly 9:00pm with a pre-convention event anchored by Sis. Soso Annifred, who is the vice chairman of the 21st convention planning committee.
She took the audience through an atmosphere of joy and laughter.
It was a great time with interactive session, a march pass by constituent churches and local divisions present as well as drama ministration by the Theatrical Unit of the Fellowship.
remarkably, Special Adviser on Religious Matters to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Venerable Rev’d Bukola Adeleke, added glamour as he graced the event, where he spoke on the theme of the event.
According to him, doing exploits has to do with total obedience to God and His Words. “When you disobey God you lost your relationship with him”, he said. Rev. Adeleke cited the case of Samson in the Bible to buttress his points. He reminded the youths how Samson was and how great his assignment was, but sadly, how he could not achieve the full purpose of God for his life as a result of disobedience.
The vigil session of the programme was equally highly rewarding as the state’s Mass Choir took the congregation through a spirit-filled praises, worships and hymnal renditions.
In his address the youths, Bro. Odedina Jpil appreciated members for their steadfastness so far, and also he encouraged them to be focused and look ahead for a better 2021.
Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the C&S Unification Church of Nigeria, Snr. Supt. Apostle Pastor Dr. Joseph Olatunde Adagba Jpil, in his speech, congratulated the youths on the occasion of 21st convention/anniversary. He encouraged them to keep the flag flying and never to despise their ‘birthrights for a plate of morsel’.
In his sermon, Pastor Segun Michael stood the whole congregation still as he did justice to the of the convention theme: empowered for exploits, according to him,” Exploits is to disengage satan. Doing exploits is taking advantage of the Kingdom to gather men unto the Lord. Exploits is God using you not you using yourself.”
The man of God emphasizes that “your fasting, your level of knowledge or research can’t bring you to the place of exploits. But by knowing God and understanding the practical knowledge of Him through a personal encounter enables you do exploits.
If there is no holiness, there is no exploits”, he said.
Present at the event were representatives of Good Women Congress, Lagos State chapter, the Youth Fellowship Supervisor, Special Apostle (General) Abiodun Badiru, Youth Coordinator, Most Snr. Apostle Prophet Kehinde Adeyoju Jpil, Apostle Segun Akinpelu.
Also in attendance were Special Apostle Segun Adio Jpil, state chapter’s Vice Chairman, Evangelist Dr. Rotimi Odugbesan Jpil, state chapter’s General Secretary and Apostle Femi Akinpelu, state’s chapter’s Treasurer.
The convention chairman Bro. Segun Odufuwa appreciated members for their support and promise the youth a better convention in 2021 as the executive as agreed that the committee will handle the next convention.
