Times and seasons are believed to have been assigned to all humans regardless of their shapes, sizes or background.
This assertion is clearly stated in the book of Ecclesiastes 3.
The ladder of life is also believed to be climbed gradually before attaining enviable heights in life.
This words best described some of the newly-inducted officers of the Lagos State chapter of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, most especially its Chairman, Special Apostle (Dr.) Segun Adio JP, History has it that Apostle Adio had served in different capacities in the chapter for about 30 years before attaining the position of the Chairman of the state chapter.
Then, history was made recently, as leaders of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, from the Ecclesiastical Council, head of churches, local divisions and churches including families, friends and well- wishers converged at the Mount Sinai Cherubim and Seraphim Church, No. 47, Wright Street, Adekunle Bus Stop, Ebute Metta to rejoice with the new officers of the state chapter who will steer the affairs of the chapter for the next three years.
The induction ceremony commenced at 10:00am with the procession of the choir and inductees who were gorgeously dressed in their beautiful garments made for the occasion.
The only scripture reading for the day was taken from the book of Romans 12: 1-21 and read by Mother – in – Israel Prophetess Mololuwa Adebiyi Jpil.
The induction process was anchored by the National Executive Council of the church, under the supervision of the Chairman of the Council, Baba Aladura Emmanuel Omoniyi Owomoyela Jpil and Supt. Apostle Olatunde Ogunkunle jpil, the Secretary General of the church.
The Assistant Secretary General Il of the church, Snr. Apostle Tayo Ajose Jpil led the procession of the inductees and presented them to the Secretary General, after which they took oaths of office and prophetic prayer was rendered for them by the proxy of C&S Movement Church in the Unification, Special Apostle (Dr.) Olusesi Sowande one after the other as they were called out.
Other elders and the congregation at large also rendered prayers for a successful tenure for the new officers.
However, in his speech, the the new chairman, Special Apostle Segun Adio appreciated God for the call to serve in His vineyard.
He appreciated his predecessor in office, Supt. Apostle (Dr.) Olatunde Adagba Jpil for his good leadership, words of encouragement and support over the years.
He promised to guard the position that posterity bestowed upon him and his team jealously.
Ap. Adio also promised to build on the good works of his predecessors, while he promised to work on the goals of church by bringing more churches to the unification through the state chapter.
Moreover, the chairman said to assist the financial drive of the members of Unification in the state, cooperative society known as ‘Lagos Chapter Unification Cooperative Society Limited’ has been opened for the chapter. According to him, the cooperative society has been duly registered under Lagos State government. He added that the scheme would be handled by Seraphs who specialise in the financial concerns.
Ap. Adio said a committee would be set up to look into reviewing the Rules and Regulations of the chapter for it to meet up the modern day realities. “Myself and my team will work to strengthen the present wings of the chapter, he said.
In his sermon, His Grace Baba Aladura S.A.O Adeoye Jpil. congratulated the inductees. He, however, made it clear to them that to run a successful tenure they needed to work on two major assignments, which he called “to dress and to keep the garden”, quoting Genesis chapter 2 vs 15 – and the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to dress it and keep it.
According to him, the purpose of God for Adam was to dress and protect the garden. “This we can be related with the purpose of God for every man in his place of his assignment.”
Baba Aladura Adeoye emphasised that to be able to dress and keep the garden successfully, the sword was needed. “The first is the sword of the spirit which is the word of God. Without the word, it will be difficult to succeed in your assignment.
“The second is the sword of prayer, he implore them to pray ceaselessly.” Adding that “your level of education or professional experience is not enough to oversee the affairs of a church, without the Word of God and prayers.”
Baba Aladura Adeoye also said another key factor to consider for a successful administration was to be guided by the Holy Spirit. “Allow the holy spirit to be your guide, do not rely on your strength.”
Baba Adeoye pleaded with local divisions and churches operating in the chapter to “support and work together with the new Executive because without their support they can’t achieve anything.”
However, he also used the opportunity to implore members of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church to “work towards the unity of the church so the Cherubim and Seraphim Church we all envisioned can be actualised.”
Adding glamour to the event was the award presentation to those who had worked selflessly towards the progress of the state chapter. The awardees were Rev. Apostolic Mother Dorcas Iyabode Pedro (also known as Mama Unifica) Rev. Apostolic Mother Esther Titilola, Snr. Supt. General Apostolic Mother Abosede Osinowo. JP, Prophetess Elizabeth Bello, Supt. General Apostle Kola Odunsi JP and the immediate past chairman of the state chapter, Snr. Supt. Apostle Joseph Olatunde Adagba Jpil.
